The 10 rules for a perfect selfie
The filter
In this post I told you about Instagram filters. Well, even when it comes to taking selfies, Instagram filters can play a decisive role in the success of the photo. With regard to the selfi-filters combination, there is one that over time I have come to know and use, or in any case to recommend that it is the Luminous filter. It is a kind of artificial make-up. In fact, it corrects all face imperfections, gives the skin a vital and luminous complexion, lightens eye bags. An ally against aging, other than Vitamin B!
Portrait mode
It is one of the shooting modes, indeed it would be more correct to say of “self-timer” now present on all major smartphones. The advantage is it does everything by itself. In fact, it takes care of obtaining the exact position of your face within the image by automatically operating a whole series of improvement algorithms for an optimal result.
If you need it cut
In an ideal selfie, your face should not cover about 20 or 30% of the entire surface covered by the photograph you are taking … What happens if you stray too far from these limits? It’s very simple. If your face ends up taking up too much surface inside the photo, well, in the end, my friends, you will have a “passport photo” and not a selfie anymore. Same goes, dually, if the face represents only a small part of the photo then you will have obtained a classic photograph, and not a close-up of yourself.

Say cheese!
Warning, I don’t mean it seriously. I don’t expect you to actually say “cheese” while taking a selfie. But still pay attention to the facial expression you are proposing. Here we fall back into the discussion of the angle seen in the previous post. Trying and trying again, each of you will over time obtain what is the most telegenic facial expression. In theory, but I don’t think it can really be applied to everyone, it is said that the ideal expression is the one with the lips open, not necessarily smiling, as if to exhale a breath from your mouth. It is an expression that, for example, gives excellent results if yours wants to be a sexy or professional selfie.
Locations matter
Given that the ideal distance to hold the smartphone while taking a selfie corresponds exactly to the length of your arm, there is only one question left: how to position your arm? I teach you a trick (used by many influencers). Place it stretched to the maximum, with the smartphone about 5 centimeters higher than your eyebrows and tilted forward at the top. Why all this? Thanks to this positioning you will have, without resorting to retouching, a finer face and proportionally larger eyes. Seeing is believing.
